Hurricane Sandy left many areas in Cuba devastated. In the city of Santiago de Cuba, tens of thousands of buildings were completely destroyed; many more lost their roofs or were otherwise severely damaged. Amongst the most severely affected were homes of solid concrete slabs, commonly used throughout the region.
Something that drew attention amid the tragic scenes was a number of homes that were left undamaged or at least standing after Hurricane Sandy. These undamaged buildings were mainly of modular construction built with light steel framing (LSF). This system of house building is identical to CRUPE technology using light steel frames and in fact many of these houses were actually produced by CRUPE Framing machines shipped from our European factory.
